2010 WORLD CUP ACCUMULATOR OPENING WEEKEND BETTING TIPS
One of the best ways to add a little bit of spice to your 2010 World Cup betting strategies is to play a few large accumulator bets- this can be especially profitable early in the competition.
We’ve done a few rundowns on the opening fixtures so you can check those out in our dedicated World Cup section. The trick is to spot the plausible upsets as you’re not going to be winning too many multi-line bets by playing just favourites. And even if you do win, the pay offs can be pretty light.
My World Cup Opening Weekend parlay ticket includes Mexico x Uruguay x South Korea x Argentina x England x draw (Algeria-Slovenia) x Serbia x Germany x Holland. That’s a nine line bet and some would say I don’t have enough draws in there, but I think Algeria-Slovenia is destined for the draw and all the others have very beatable teams. Uruguay are the only real upsets I’m playing on that ticket as I think France could be the bunk team from this year’s World Cup.
And the payout? If you take my nine-line opening weekend accumulator, you’re looking at a hefty 909.0 odds. Meaning that a $1 bet pays out at $909.65 if all nine results prove correct. You can chop off a few selections and still get some great value. Drop the Mexico result and the Algeria-Slovenia match and we’re still looking at 114.85 for a 7 line ticket that backs all favourites except for Uruguay- that’s what’s providing most of your value. Take Uruguay off the ticket and you’re down to a mere 30.62 from 6 matches. Still great odds as those are all extremely plausible winners.
If you’re on the hunt for value and you’re looking at some serious upsets try playing a smaller accumulator with some more adventurous wagers. South Korea x Uruguay x Draw (Mexico-South Africa) pays out at a very tasty 32.48. That’s a solid £10 bet if you ask me.
An interesting triple draw ticket has draws in the Serbia vs Ghana match, South Africa vs Mexico, and South Korea vs Greece. These three all hitting pays out at a very solid 33.75.
If you’re just looking to play odds-on favourites, you’ve got a great chance with Argentina x England x Germany x Holland at a 5.3 price. Every team is priced around 1.5 outright and those are all very plausible winners. A £100 wager at those odds would pay some solid dividends.
If you’re feeling especially adventurous and are looking to back the upsets- the World Cup 2010 opening weekend upset ticket has South Africa x Uruguay x Greece x Nigeria x USA x Algeria x Ghana x Australia x Denmark x Japan at a titanic price of 2325643.30. That means a £1 stake would make you a millionaire twice-over. Worth a bet?
