2010 WORLD CUP KNOCKOUT STAGE PREDICTIONS AND LATEST ODDS

We've now finally finished with the group stages at the 2010 World Cup and there are some genuinely solid odds out there for these very tasty-looking fixtures. Blue Square is offering up live wagering on all these matches as well as some enticing accumulator prices.

We are still waiting for the odds for the teams who played on the final day so be sure to stay tuned for those.
URUGUAY VS SOUTH KOREA
We had tipped Uruguay as one of the teams to outperform expectations and they did even better than we thought they would. You'll find Diego Forlan & Co available as the odds-on favourites with a 10/11 price to beat out South Korea. The SOuth Koreans were also tipped to do quite well and they managed to get out of a rather tough group. You'll find them at 10/3 and the draw priced at 9/4. South Korea could grind this out, but Uruguay look a team in very good form.
USA VS GHANA
There isn't much between these two but the bookmakers are giving the slightest of edges to the United States. They're listed at 8/5 while Ghana are priced at 9/5. The draw is trading at 21/10 and I expect the Africans to have a fair amount of support in the crowd. This is one of the hardest matches to wager on and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a draw and extra-time. I think I would favour the Americans because they have proven they can grab a goal from nothing.
GERMANY VS ENGLAND
This is one of the tightest clashes in the group stages and you'll find England priced as the slim 13/8 favourites while Germany are trading at a 7/4 outright price. The draw is at 11/5 and I know a lot of people will assume this one goes to penalties. I think England could be the improvers and take this one- Germany have shown they can struggle offensively. I think discipline is the biggest issue here a red card would prove absolutely disastrous.
ARGENTINA VS MEXICO
This is shaping up to be a more complex match than you would assume at first glance. Mexico are a quality side who do not struggle to score and if they can contain Argentina then I see no reason why they can't win. Diego Maradon'a side are listed at 8/15 while the draw is priced at 3/1. You can back Mexico for a massive upset at an 11/2 price and, seeing as though we've seen so many upsets in this World Cup, I wouldn't be too surprised.
HOLLAND VS SLOVAKIA
This is another tricky match and Holland have shown themselves capable of making serious mistakes on stages like this. They're heavy favourites at 4/9 while the Slovaks are the longest shot of the knockout round at a 7/1 price. The early goal is crucial here and I can see the 3/1 draw being a realistic outcome. This is a winnable fixture for Slovakia if they stay organized.
PARAGUAY VS JAPAN
This one looks like an open match and there is a very enticing 23/10 price available on Japan. I think that's a great bet on them and Paraguay is a good match for the Japanese. I think they would struggle against a Brazil or an Argentina but they will see this as a winnable match. Paraguay are priced at 5/4 but the 21/10 draw looks a decent shout and I fancy those Japanese in extra-time.
Our knockout round accumulator is: Uruguay x Draw x England x Draw x Holland x Japan rewards at 296.21.
