2010 WORLD CUP PREDICTIONS AND LAST MINUTE BETTING ODDS

We are less than 24 hours away from the kick-off of the 2010 World Cup and it’s pretty safe to say that everybody is raring to go. A last minute review of the odds from popular bookmaker Stan James reveals that Spain and Brazil are now considered to be co-favourites as previously Spain has been about a point ahead of the Samba Boys. You’ll find both sides trading at a 5.0 price.

How’s this for a bit of betting insurance- what if I told you that if Spain, the co-favourites, win the 2010 World Cup that Stan James will give you your money back as a free bet. If you place an outright wager with Stan James on the World Cup winner and you lose while Spain goes on to win- you will get 100% of your stake back for you to re-wager on something else. Put it on an even-money horse or something or maybe a big bet on your favourite clin team to win the Champions League!
Lionel Messi’s Argentina side are considered to be the third favourites by a decent margin, trading at 7.0. This places them a fair distance ahead of England who are priced at 8.5- that’s one of the higher prices I’ve seen on the English side.
The Netherlands odds to win the 2010 World Cup trade at 10.0 and then the odds take a sizable jump to 15.0 for the German national side while defending champions Italy are trading at a tempting 17.0. I think that’s a decent price, though I’m not a fan of the Italian team.
France’s odds are sitting at 21.0, but I don’t see them getting out of the group stage myself. Portugal are trading at 26.0 and if Cristiano Ronaldo has a blockbuster of a tournament then they are definitely in with a shout. Since Ronaldo is one of the last major superstars still standing in this world cup, you may get the feeling that he wants to put on a show.
Ivory Coast have drifted up to 41.0 with Serbia considered 51.0 contenders. Chile trade at 67.0 while Ghana, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay and the United States are all trading at 81.0 prices.
Cameroon are the only team listed at 101.0 and they may be worth an each-way bet to get to the final. Stan James have each-way betting available at 1/2 the odds on a team to finish top two. So if Cameroon made it to the final, your each-way bet would still pay out around $50.
Australia trades at 126.0 with Denmark and Nigeria while Greece and South Africa trade at 151.0. Switzerland is available at a 201.0 price with South Korea priced at 226.0. Slovenia are at 301.0 with Japan just behind at 351.0. Algeria are at 501.0 with Honduras, New Zealand and North Korea all available at 1001.0.
