2010 WORLD SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIPS LATEST FIRST ROUND BETTING TIPS

The 2010 World Snooker Championships has got off to the finest of starts with the perfect blend of high quality play and nail biting tension. There have already been three final frame deciders and more than 15 century breaks to get the crucible crowd excited, although one member of the audience did find it all too much when he fell asleep during the Graeme Dott versus Peter Ebdon match.

That match resumes this evening with Dott holding a commanding 7-2 advantage. Ebdon never really got going in the first session and the Scot duly punished him. Tonight, however, I think we may see a lot more from Ebdon, he is renowned for his battling abilities and being able to dig deep and draw strength from seemingly impossible situations. Winning the match from this position may prove a bridge too far but at odds of 14.0 (13/1) on Betfair, there is potential there for in-play traders. If you’re looking for a bet that doesn’t require any in-play trading then bet365 are offering odds of 5/6 on Ebdon in the +5.5 frames handicap market.
On the adjacent table this evening will be Shaun Murphy and Gerard Greene. They drew the short straw of having to wait until day five of the tournament before getting their World Championship underway. History doesn’t shine too favourably on Greene’s record at the Crucible this will be his fifth World Championships and he has yet to win a match, unsurprising then that the 2005 champion is a short priced favourite.
Since Murphy claimed the crown of World Champion in 2005 he has made it to a quarter-final, semi-final and last year’s final and has always cruised through his opening round match. For that reason I think it might pay to look at backing Murphy -4.5 frames at 10/11 again with bet365.
