2010/11 CARLING CUP BETTING ODDS SHOW CHELSEA FAVOURED

The Carling Cup gets underway today and, while there are plenty of excellent wagering opportunities out there, you can still lock in some great odds on the outright tournament winner. It probably doesn’t come as a massive surprise that Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea side are the distinct favourites to win the competition with popular UK bookmaker Ladbrokes pricing them at odds of 5.0.
Defending champs Manchester United are listed alongside their cross-town rivals Manchester City at a 6.0 price tag. Tottenham Hotspur’s odds to win the Carling Cup are trading at 8.0 while Liverpool remain competitive at 9.0.
A good cup run would likely do Roy Hodgson a lot of favours as the new appointee is coming under an increasing amount of pressure as positive results have been scarce to come by.
David Moyes’ Everton are looking like contenders with an 11.0 price indicating that they are capable of winning it, but may need a kinder draw than some.
Arsenal’s youth team are priced at 17.0 to win the Carling Cup and, if you think Arsenal’s first-team are going to be really good in 5-6 years then you should definitely back them at that price tag.
Aston Villa are trading at 19.0 while Birmingham can be backed at 23.0. If you’re looking for an interesting outside bet, try Newcastle at 34.0- they’ve certainly shown they know how to carve out a result from nothing and you reckon that the St James Park faithful could use something to cheer about this season. Sunderland, Blackburn, Fulham and Bolton are also priced at 34.0.
Wolves and Stoke are both listed at 41.0 to win the Carling Cup while Wigan and West Ham trade at 51.0. Other notable sides include Burnley at 67.0, West Brom at 81.0, Pompey and Ipswich at 101.01, Leicester and Millwall at 126.0 and Swansea at 151.0.
If you’relooking to back serious long shots Peterborough, Preston, Southampton and Watford are at 201.0 with Scunthorpe at 251.0. Milton Keynes Dons and Notts County trade at 351.0 with Brentford at 501.0 and Northampton being the longest shot on the board at an implausible 751.0.
