2010/11 ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE OPENING DAY BETTING ODDS FOR SATURDAY
There are definitely some first-rate fixtures going down today in the opening day of the 2010/11 English Premier League. The first fixture of the season pits Tottenham Hotspur against up-and-coming Manchester City in the 12:45 am fixture.
Spurs, being the home side, are the significant favourites for this one at a 2.25 price tag against City at 3.2. The draw can be had at a 3.3 margin and that's not a bad bet if you're a neutral.
Manchester City are definitely the wild card this season with certain bookmakers tipping them for 3rd spot, certain bookmakers tippin them for fourth and some figuring the won't qualify for the Champions League at all. This is a very significant fixture for Roberto Mancini and the Citizens.
Manager-less Aston Villa take on West Ham today and you'll find Villa priced at odds-on with a 1.9 listing ahead of the Hammers at 4.0. Avram Grant's side will be looking for a big upset but the draw is trading at 3.4 and that's not a bad wager in my book as Aston Villa may be a bit up in the air.
Everton are priced at 2.5 and even though they're the away team, they're considered the favourites to beat Blackburn, who can be backed at 2.8. The draw is available at 3.3.
Bolton vs Fulham looks like an interesting fixture and the Wanderers are getting the edge here with a 2.25 price tag ahead of the Cottagers who are listed at 3.2. The draw trades at 3.3.
Sunderland are favourites to dispose of Birmingham and I think this could wind up being an upset for Alex McLeish's side. Sunderland are at 2.1 while Birmingham are at 3.5 and the draw is priced at 3.3 with Ladbrokes.
Wolves are priced at 2.25 to beat Stoke City, who can be backed at 3.2. The draw is listed at 3.3.
Wigan are odds-on to beat Premier League debutantes Blackpool. You can find Wigan at 1.8 while Blackpool are priced at 4.5. This could be a big upset if Wigan don't come out all-guns-blazing.
Finally, Chelsea are the heaviest favourites of the day, priced at 1.14 to ebat out West Brom, who are listed at 19.0.
