2013 US Open Men’s Tennis Betting Preview

Novak Djokovic is emerging as the key man ahead of the US Open Men’s Tennis tournament which gets underway in about two weeks time. The UK & European books have been taking money on this event for the past few months and we haven’t really seen the lines change too much over time. Expect some significant volume to develop over the next couple of days, however, as we get down to the business end of the 2013 Rogers Cup.

Rafa Nadal put Canadian Milos Raonic in his place with a straight sets victory that ended the young Canuck’s hopes of being the first domestic player to actually win the tournament.

Nadal is widely-considered to be the third favourite to win the US Open while the bookmakers have Andy Murray just a small step behind Djokovic.

Punters will find the Serbian sensation at a 7/4 listing while Murray can be backed at a 15/8 price tag. In an unfamiliar twist which will surely become more common in the coming years, Nadal is now the third favourite for a major grand slam ahead of living-legend Roger Federer.

Punters will find Rafa at a 4/1 price while Federer can be backed at a lengthy 7/1 price tag. Those who think the Swiss Master will be able to turn a relatively underwhelming year around and get the result here when it counts most will certainly be able to tuck into a quality price but you do have to wonder whether most will wait until he disposes of a few lower-profile contenders prior to that.

Federer has been shaky in several of his fixtures so far this year and it wasn’t that long ago that bookmakers considered him a lock for virtually every grand slam event.

Other notables include Juan Martin Del Potro at a 10/1 price ahead of 25/1 Thomas Berdych. Jerzy Janowicz is alongside Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at 33/1 while Milos Raonic and David Ferrer can both be backed at 40/1.
