2013 US Open Men’s Tournament Odds

The 2013 US Open Men’s Tournament is looking like it’s setting up to be another cracking edition of fixtures and the betting markets are looking particularly fascinating as the matches are already underway and we’ve got plenty of talent lined up to contest the latter stages of the competition. The matches in Flushing Meadows are always interesting and the late August east coast weather can add a few interesting variables to things as well.

As it currently stands, the bookmakers are favouring Rafael Nadal by the slimmest of margins over Novak Djokovic while Andy Murray sits a few steps behind that pair. If Andy Murray is able to actually win the tournament, that’s going to be a major coup for British tennis and will further ensconce the status of Murray as one of GB’s greatest sporting heroes of the generation.

Punters will find Nadal priced out at around 2/1 right now with Djokovic listed at a 9/4 price - just a single tick back from Nadal. With Djokovic still ranked #1 in the world it really goes to illustrate just how much confidence the bookmakers have in him and his ability to get the job done over the particular type of surface that they will be faced with in New York.

Andy Murray is a still-solid 3/1 price tag to get the tournament victory and you reckon that the price with British books is going to be significantly shorter than he is going to be anywhere else.

Juan Martin del Potro is a 12/1 shot alongside Roger Federer and that really tells you something about how Federer has fallen out of favour with bookmakers as the de facto first-choice option to capture the Grand Slam tournaments.

A jump from 3/1 to 12/1 is significant but a gap from 12/1 to 40/1 is even more telling and that’s where you’ll find Tomas Berdych with David Ferrer and John Isner both priced at 66/1. Canadian Milos Raonic is listed at 100/1 to win the tournament but he may be a better selection on the each-way as most books pay 1/2 odds on the top two places.
