2014 Australian Open Betting Tips Pt 1

Novak Djokovic is the outright betting favourite to win the 2014 Australian Open Men’s Singles Competition and the Serbian sensation looks likely to drop in price as the punters pile on. You can still lock in a halfway decent price on him if you really are genuinely confident about his ability to win the tournament.

Bookmakers across Europe have him priced at around even money to secure the Men’s Single’s Tournament at the Australian Open.

As usual, his stiffest competition is expected to come from Rafa Nadal who is available at a relatively tempting 5/2 price tag for those who think he’s got a shot at unseating the current world #1. Nadal hasn’t quite been his emphatic best in the last few tournaments but you can still expect him to put up a good fight and he tends to play some pretty good stuff early in the year.

Britain’s Andy Murray is the 7/1 third favourite and it’s probably a bit of a stretch to consider him a big favourite to win this tournament with a semi-final berth looking the most likely outcome for him. On the chance he can actually get to the final, this one would be a real coup for the punters as the 7/1 price is definitely solid.

10/1 might be a better reflection of Andy Murray’s true odds for the victory and that would have put him right alongside Juan Martin Del Potro. Murray is always underpriced with UK books so punters based in the home nations may want to look abroad if they are looking to back the Scottish sensation, who captured his first Grand Slam event last year.
