The Preakness was a very interesting contest and bore the unique occasion of not hosting a Kentucky Derby winning for the first time in many a year. With War of Will’s excellent performance, and jockey Tyler Gaffalione etching his name into the Triple Crown history books, many observers are wondering what’s going to come next for horse and rider.
There is a lot to like about the way that the race is shaping up and it looks like third place finisher Tacitus is currently headlining the ante post markets with the bookmakers. As it currently stands, you’ll find Tacitus available around a 5/2 price tag to win the 2019 Belmont Stakes.
As a son of Tapit, he definitely won’t struggle with the distance and he’s been able to handle the wide turns of Belmont in his past races. War of Will is also expected to point to this race and the bookmakers have him priced at a very solid margin of around 7/2.
Bob Baffert’s West Coast challenger and one of the hot favourites heading into the Kentucky Derby, Game Winner, is sitting as the next best priced contender with bookmakers listing him around 5/1 for Belmont glory.
Owendale was able to muster up a good performance in the Preakness and is floating around 13/2 all the way up to a 10/1 margin to pull off a victory over the mile and a half Belmont Stakes distance. Other notables include Everfast at 12/1, Global Campaign at 14/1 and Tax at a 20/1 margin.
