AC MILAN VS MANCHESTER UNITED 2010 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TIPS
We’ve got a real barn-burner of a fixture kicking off tomorrow as we welcome back the 2010 Champions League! Two of Europe’s most storied sides clash with Manchester United taking on the venerable AC Milan in the first leg of their Champions League tussle. United are the favourites to win the draw and are even given a slim edge to win the away fixture with top UK bookmaker William Hill.
You’ll find Sir Alex Ferguson’s side trading at 6/4 for the outright victory while Milan pays 13/8. The draw is paying out around even money at 19/10.
The favoured correct score outcome is a 1-1 draw and that’s about right for the neutral, but I get the feeling that if United start the match with some serious verve, then they could easily notch a few more goals than that. I think that Fergie may be tempted to sit back for the first twenty minutes and see what Milan can throw at them. If they sense weakness or spot holes, they may switch tactics and push forward- attempting to end the tie early. United to come out of the fixture with a 2-1 margin is listed at 8/1 while a 2-0 victory (which would put the fixture on ice) is even shorter-priced at 15/2. That’s interesting to me.
I think the weekend break will benefit United, and I expect a polite-but-firm tackle to be aimed David Beckham’s way pretty early.
Milan will be looking to one of their cadre of goalscorers to get the business done against a Nemanja Vidic-less United. Marco Borriello trades alongside Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato at 6/4 to score anytime and 11/2 first or last. David Beckham’s odds to score against Manchester United are 10/3 anytime and 9/1 first or last.
Wayne Rooney is heavily-favoured to score in this fixture with a slim 5/4 price anytime. He tortured Milan the last time United came to visit and will be looking to dominate the fixture. Rooney is 15/2 to score 2 or more and 33/1 to notch a hat-trick. Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen trade at 15/8 anytime while Mame Diouf can be backed at 9/4. Nani is eligible for this fixture and trades at 7/2 to score anytime. Park Ji-Sung thrives in fixtures like these and you can back him at 5/1 to score anytime- that’s a quality price. Paul Scholes sits at 6/1 to score anytime.
United are a solid 4/5 on a Draw No bet and they are an enticing 7/1 to win by two goals.
