AFRICAN CUP OF NATIONS 2010 LATEST ODDS AND PREDICTIONS
It's been a very sombre 24 hours for African football fans with the attack on the Togo national team prompting the side to pull out of the tournament. This has set a very negative tone heading into the competition, but the show must go on. The odds have been shuffled a bit now that Emmanuel Adebayor and co. will not be making an appearance. And who can blame them really? After having been through that I likely wouldn't be able to make it to the toilet properly, much less play a month-long football tournament.
As it currently stands, Ivory Coast are trading at 3.25 with Ladbrokes to win the 2010 African Cup of Nations. They are clear favourites across the board and only have a handful of sides that will compete against them for the title. Cameroon are 2nd favourites at a 4.5 price while Michael Essien's Ghana side can be backed at an enticing 7.0. Egypt and Nigeria remain dead-locked at 9.0 apiece. The two outside selections are Algeria at 13.0 and Tunisia at 15.0. I feel as though these two are more attractive sides for the 1/2 odds available on each-way bets. You can back a team to make the final at half of the regular odds.
Angola is listed at 21.0 while Mali and Gabon are at 23.0 and 34.0 with Ladbrokes. Benin and Burkina Faso share a 51.0 listing while Zambia sits at 67.0. Malawai and Mozambique are the outside bets at 101.0.
In terms of the 2010 African Cup of Nations Top Goalscorer betting market, Didier Drogba looks set to duel with Samuel Eto'o. Drogba is the outright favourite at 4.0 while the Inter Milan player is available at 5.0.
The only possible challengers seem to be Fredi Kanoute at 11.0, Asamoah Gyan at 15.0 or Yakubu at the same price. Salomon Kalou trades at 17.0 while Manucho could mount a possible bid should he hit a hat-trick early on and you can back him at 21.0.
Betting Choice will feature a more in-depth look at the opening fixture which is between host side Angola and Mali. From our perspective, Angola has it all to play for here and they are given a very slim edge by the bookmaker with a price of 2.37 compared to Mali's 2.6. I really like the draw/Angola half-time/full-time market at a whopping 6.0 price. I'm all over that in what I expect to be a tight match.
