American Football betting: Superbowl Preview
Considering they have won every time they have taken to the field this season it is hardly surprising that the New England Patriots are 2/9 to win a fourth Superbowl in six years. However, Canbet's 4/1 about a New York Giants' upset is the value call. In Tom Brady New England have a star quarterback who has already three Superbowl Rings to his name. What's more, this season he has thrown a record 578 passes at a 68.9% completion rate, passed 4,806 yards and blitzed the NFL record with an astonishing 50 touchdown passes. He was intercepted just eight times and sacked on 21 occasions. When those numbers are compared to those of his New York counterpart, Eli Manning, there is apparently no contest. Manning managed just 529 passes (56.1%) at a total of 3,336 yards, threw 23 td passes and had 20 picked off. The 27-year-old has been sacked 27 times and his 6.31 average puts him in 28th place in the rankings, streets behind Brady's unrivalled 8.32. However, it is widely accepted that, quarterbacks aside, there is little to choose between the two sides. The Giants' improved defense, which carried them to postseason upsets over Tampa Bay, Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers, is about the equal of New England's. And in offense, on the ground, the Giants were fourth in the NFL in total yards rushing at 2,148 with a 4.6-yards-per-carry average, while the Patriots were only 13th with 1,849 yards and 4.1. There is a notable difference between the two teams in their passing games but Manning gave a star turn in the surprise defeat of Green Bay, suggesting that he is coming to the boil when it matters most. "You never know when you're going to get your opportunity, when something is going to click, when you're going to get hot," said Manning after the 23-20 overtime win at Lambeau Field - their tenth away win of the season. The Giants will have to find a way to stop Brady, but, lest we forget, they almost did on Week 16 when they squandered a 12-point lead before losing by just three points in a thrilling 38-35 defeat. And it's worth noting that in that match Manning threw three touchdown passes to Brady's two. The fact is that the Giants should not be 4/1 shots and after running Bill Belichick's men so close last time around they are worth a shot. Throw the fact that in 41 Super Bowls quarterbacks have been named Most Valuable Player 21 times into the end zone and Manning's 7/1 is also worth a gentle wager. Verdict: 2pts Giants to beat Patriots @ 4/1 (Canbet); Eli Manning to win MVP @ 7/1 (Coral/Sportingbet) Click here for up to £200 free to bet on the Superbowl with Canbet
