AMIR KHAN FIGHT COULD BE OFF AS MARCO ANTONIO BARRERA IS CUT IN PRACTICE
As the date draws nearer to the Amir Khan fight against Mexican great Marco Antonio Barrera, the proverbial fly-in-the-ointment has appeared with Barrera suffering a cut after being headbutted in a warm-up match in his native Mexico. Fighting in front of the fans in his native Jalisco, Barrera was butted by Freudis Rojas which caused a disqualification for Rojas, but also severely hampered his chance of battling Amir Khan in Manchester on March 14th. A doctor's visist is expected to happen today and this will have serious repercussions going forward, in terms of betting, as a quick replacement will be sought should Barrera not be able to make it.As it stands right now, the fight is still on and Khan is still carrying odds of 8/11 with a points victory being the bookmakers most likely source of victory for the Briton. Khan's move is expected to be made between the 4th and the 8th, but I'm personally favouring a ninth round TKO or KO victory for Amir Khan in what will be one of his longest fights. Should the fight go forward as planned, I feel as though the betting will be changed around a little bit as Khan will be hunting for that injured spot and the doctors may be quicker to stop the fight than they normally would be. If the Amir Khan vs Marco Antonio Barrera fight goes ahead, I would effectively rule out a points-win and I am 100% confident that this one will be settled within the first 12 rounds.
