AMIR KHAN VS DMITRIY SALITA LATEST ODDS AND TIPS
Amir Khan’s odds continue to drop significantly as we draw ever closer to his fight with Dmitriy Salita. He has drifted down from 1/5 all the way to 1/8 with most major bookmakers, while Salita’s odds have also begun to rise. He is now trading at around 9/2 at 888 sports for the outright victory. The draw is 33/1 but it would take a miracle of biblical proportions to make that happen here.
Everybody knows about the political subtext to this fight and I think it’s one the reasons why the fighters haven’t exactly been too vicious with each other in terms of pre-match banter. I’m glad we haven’t heard any Mike Tyson-ish “I’m going to eat his children” posturing, and I’m glad the fighters recognize the responsibility that they have.
I think the gulf between these two fighters is fairly significant and this is a massive step up for Dmitriy Salita- too big of a step-up. Khan is too well-trained and too confident at the moment and I don’t think we’ll go much further than 5 rounds here before a stoppage.
I’m not sure about an outright KO, but you can back a KO, TKO or DQ victory for Khan at a 5/6 price while he is listed at a slim 6/4 for the victory by decision. Salita is 9/1 to beat Khan by KO, TKO or DQ and 10/1 to win by decision or technical decision.
In terms of the round betting, Khan’s favoured rounds are 5-7 where he trades at a slim 12/1. He is 14/1 in rounds 2, 3, 4 and 8 while he is 16/1 in rounds 1, 9 and 10. He is 20/1 in round 11 and 25/1 in round 12. I like those 14/1 odds on the first 4 rounds.
Salita is 80/1 to win in round 1, 2 and 12 and 66/1 for every other round.
The over/under is 9.5 rounds at 10/11 and I’m a big advocate of the Under bet there.
Prediction: Khan to style all over Salita with a stoppage in round 4.
