AMIR KHAN VS DMITRIY SALITA ODDS AND BETTING TIPS
Britain's young powerhouse Amir Khan is set for his first defence of the WBA World Light-Welterweight title. The match has some very interesting political and social undertones as this is the first time anybody can remember a world title fight that involved a Muslim fighting a Jew. I expect both fighters to use the opportunity to elevate themselves above religious differences while showing that healthy competition and mutual respect could probably do us all a lot of good. Khan takes on American Dmitriy Slita and Khan is the distinct favourite for this one at a 1/6 price with BetFred. Salita is listed at around 4/1, which is lengthy for a light-welterweight fight. The draw is listed at 33/1, but that never happens. The odds are strongly tilted towards Khan receiving a victory by KO, TKO or DQ. In fact, a victory by anything but decision comes in at odds-on with a 10/11 price. There isn't much difference between that and the Decision selection as a Khan victory by decision pays out at 5/4. Understandably, Salita is at 8/1 for a victory by KO, TKO or DQ and an identical price for the decision victory. As usual in boxing the big cash is in the round betting but for Khan, he is quite short in the early-to-mid rounds. His shortest price is 12/1 through rounds 4-7, while he rises in price to 14/1 for rounds 3 and 7. You'll find him at his highest price, 25/1, in rounds 11 and 12. Look for him at 20/1 during rounds 9 and 10. Salita is 66/1 to win in virtually every single round. You've really got to tip Khan for this one. I like him in an early round, likely the 4th, but I also like the 9th round.
