AMIR KHAN VS PAULIE MALIGNAGGI LATEST BETTING TIPS
After Floyd Mayweather took down Shane Mosley so effectively on Saturday, many eyes are now turning to the next high-profile fight- the match-up between Amir Khan and American Paulie Malignaggi. Few will forget Amir Khan’s absolute demolition of unbeaten American/Israeli fighter Dmitry Salita. That was almost embarrassing to watch, but I had backed Khan to win in the 1st round and was duly rewarded.
Amir Khan’s odds to beat Paulie Malignaggi are priced at 1/6 with the Italian-American fighter trading at a 4/1 price to produce what would be a career-defining victory. Young Malignaggi had a solid go against Ricky Hatton a few years back and, although over-matched against an aging Hatton, he managed to acquit himself quite well.
The fight is expected to go the distance and you’ll see that over 11.5 rounds is listed at 8/13. Under 11.5 rounds pays out at 6/5 and I think that’s a big gap in the odds right there. I definitely do not see Malignaggi going a full 12 against Khan.
The odds on Khan to win, even by specific method of victory, are still quite low. You’ll find him priced at even money to win by decision and 6/4 to win by KO, TKO or DQ. I seriously think that Khan will TKO Malignaggi, unless the American fighter has got a lot more up his sleeve than he has had in the past few fights.
Should Malignaggi pull off a victory, you’re looking at his best method being a decision at 13/2 while a KO or TKO victory pays out at an enticing 9/1.
The round betting is very interesting and there are some very high prices on Malignaggi with his shortest odds being in the first four rounds at 50/1. He is 60/1 in rounds 5-7 while he is trading at 66/1 in rounds 8-11. He is priced at 80/1 in round 12.
Amir Khan’s favoured rounds are 9-11 at 14/1 with round 8 paying 16/1. Rounds 7 and 12 pay out at 18/1 before he rises to 20/1 for rounds 5 and 6. He is 22/1 for round 4 while he trades at a 25/1 price for round 3. He’s 28/1 in round 2 and 33/1 to score another dramatic first round victory.
Grouped round betting is available as well if you’re looking for something a little more straightforward.
I think that Khan is a justifiable favourite in this one and I think he’s more likely to win by KO or TKO than anything else. I’m not sure if Malignaggi can handle Khan and if this gets past the fifth round, it will likely degenerate into a slugfest. Khan will be well worked out for this one and Freddy Roach is a crafty type who will definitely have Paulie’s number.
