AMIR KHAN VS PAULIE MALIGNAGGI LATEST ODDS AND BETTING TIPS
The pride of Bolton, Amir Khan, faces off against one of America's most high-profile pugilists today at Madison Square Garden. While Paulie Malignaggi may be able to boast home-field advantage here, fighting on front of his local crowd, Amir Khan remains the distinct favourite with virtually every bookmaker on the planet listing Khan at extremely short odds.
I think there are plenty of excellent betting opportunities here, especially if you're confident that Khan will exceed expectations.
Popular UK bookmaker Ladbrokes is priced at a 1.16 price to win by any means while Malignaggi is listed at a price of 5.0, which has risen from 4.5 in mid-week. Personally, I think thats the bookmakers trying to steer people towards the American.
Another movement in the betting markets has been Amir Khan's favoured rounds to win the fight. Previously, Khan had been favoured for a 7th or 8th round victory and now his shortest odds to end the fight are on the 4th and 5th. He trades as low as 15.0 and as high as 26.0 to win in the last round.
In regards to the method of victory betting, Khan is now favoured to win the fight by KO or TKO, but not my a massive margin. In the mid-week odds he has been trading at even money for a decision victory and now he is listed at a 2.25 price with the KO or TKO betting dropping down to 2.1.
Paulie Malignaggi's lowest odds to win are on a decision victory at an 8.0 price tag. He trades at 12.0 to KO or TKO Amir Khan.
The fight is favoured to go the distance, but not by much. A full 12 rounds pays out at 1.8 while a stoppage anytime before that pays out at 1.9.
Paulie Malignaggi to be knocked down at any point is odds-on at a 1.72 price while Khan pays out at 7.5 to be knocked down at any point. I think thats a great bet for Malignaggi fans as you've got a nice hedge even if Khan manages to win the fight. One lucky punch could pay you 7.5.
If you do think the fight comes down to a decision, you can get some great odds on a specific decision victory for eithe rfighter. Amir Khan's odds for a unanimous victory are 2.5 while a majority decision pays 34.0. A split is listed at 17.0. Paulie Malignaggi by unanimous decision pays out at 11.0 while a unanimous decision for the New York-based fighter pays out at 21.0. A majority decision pays a whopping 67.0. Either fighter by split or majority is trading at 7.0.
I think the movement towards an Amir Khan KO or TKO victory is quite telling and he could, and should, be able to handle this match although Malignaggi should have a few tricks up his sleeve. I think Amir Khan will definitely get momentum from this fight and begin building his brand in America.
