ARC DE TRIOMPHE BETTING TIPS AND SELECTIONS
The 2nd highest-stakes race in all of Europe runs in France tomorrow and Sea the Stars continues to be the punters favourite by a very large margin. Will anybody be able to unseat the Irish invader? As it currently stands, Sea the Stars is listed at Blue Square at a price of 4/6. Odds-on for the 3 year-old John Oxx charge that is 7 from his last 7. He has struck against nearly every single runner in this race and I think the only thing that could hold him back is a lengthy season catching up to him. I think there are only one or two horses that could possibly take care of him. Sea the Stars has won the Irish Champion Stakes, the Juddmonte International, the prestigious Coral Eclipse, the Epsom Derby and the 2000 Guineas this season alone. He's won nearly everything there is to win without resorting to jumps racing. The Arc De Triomphe and even the Breeders Cup could be the perfect finale to what looks like a perfect season. His old nemesis Fame and Glory steps up for another kick at the can and he's listed at 5/1, the 2nd favourite, at Blue Square. His season has been marred a bit by the excellence of Sea the Stars, but he has managed to score in the Group 3 Ballysax Stakes, the Group 2 Stud Derby Trial Stakes and the Group 1 Dubai Duty Free Stakes. A P O'Brien's runner looks set to provide another challenge, nut I don't think it will be enough this time without an error from Sea the Stars.Personally, I've got my eye on Cavalryman and Conduit as my spoilers in this one. Conduit took the King George VI back in July at Ascot and came third to Sea the Stars in the Coral Eclipse. He won the Breeders Cup Turf at Santa Anita last year against some real quality and I think Sir Michael Stoute's Irish runner could ask the type of questions that Sea the Stars may not be able to answer under certain conditions. You'll find him at 8/1 with Blue Square. Cavalryman is my selection for the spoiler and his 4-2-1-1-1 gives me some real confidence here. The Godolphin-owned 3 year-old French Horse won the Prix de Paris and the Qatar Prix Neil on the Longchamp surface. Wins at the course always give me the type of info that I need and this looks a quality horse designed to win this race. If Sea the Stars is going to lose, he's going to lose to Cavalryman. Tip: Sea the Stars outright, Cavalaryman each-way and a reverse forecast featuring the two.
