Bookmakers William Hill have today halved the price of the SNP gaining the most seats at the Scottish parliamentary election from 8/1 to 4/1, but still rate Labour as their 1/7 favourites with both the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats 20/1 outsiders. Hill's also offer 100/1 (from 200/1) that Scotland will become independent of the rest of Britain within five years; 50/1 within ten years and 10/1 within fifty years. "The latest poll suggest that the SNP could be heading for victory but we still feel that closet Labour supporters will save the day for the Prime Minister," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams. Tony Blair is odds on at 8/11 to leave of in July with Gordon Brown 1/20 to take over and Jack Straw is the 5/2 favourite to move in to number eleven.
