Arsenal to keep run going against Slavia Prague
Arsenal's unbeaten run will end at some point but after tonking Slavia Prague 7-0 a fortnight ago in the Champions League we can safely assume the return fixture in the Czech Republic won't be a black Wednesday for the Gunners. It has been an intense two weeks for the Londoners since that record-equalling Champions League win at the Emirates, after which they have come through a 1-1 draw at Anfield and an even more hard-fought 2-2 draw against Manchester United. Signs of tiredness began to emerge against United and the trip to Prague won't exactly help recharge the batteries but although 16/5 (Totesport, Bet365) is a tempting price for the draw, Wenger's Wunderkind's are still young and hungry enough to edge a contest that will be closer than many people think. Slavia will be determined not to suffer more humiliation on home soil so the smart money has to be on less than 2.5 goals in the game which is available at 21/20 with Blue Square. Within days of losing coach Ronald Koeman, PSV Eindhoven lost their first league match at the weekend, as well as their Eredivisie lead, and Koeman's departure to Valencia could still be playing on their mind when they travel to Fenerbahce on Wednesday, who held them to a goalless draw in the Champions League in Holland two weeks ago. The Turks are still basking in the afterglow of their 2-1 defeat of Besiktas at the weekend and, after beating Inter in Istanbul on Matchday 1, are a force to be reckoned with on home soil. Fener will almost certainly qualify from the group if they seal a home win on Wednesday and evens represents excellent value for them to do so. Two other sides hitting their stride at present are Sevilla and Barcelona. Barça struggled to break down Rangers at Ibrox two weeks ago in the Champions League but with Thierry Henry and Ronaldinho both scoring in the 3-0 defeat of Atlético Bilbao on Sunday it looks like hard night for Rangers at Camp Nou. The departure of Juande Ramos appears to have galvanised Sevilla, who have since managed back-to-back wins against Valencia and Real Madrid and will be licking their lips at the prospect of taking on pointless Steaua, whom they beat 2-1 last time out in the Champions League. Club legend Marius Lacatus is now in charge of the Romanian outfit but a 2-0 loss in his first match in charge is an ominous start to his reign. Verdict: 2pts under 2.5 goals Arsenal v Slavia @ 21/20 (Blue Square); 2pt treble on Fenerbahce, Barcelona and Sevilla @ 3/1 (William Hill); 2pt over 2.5 goals Barcelona v Rangers @ 4/7 (Paddy Power).
