With minimal reinforcement and few new ideas showing up when it genuinely counts, the Villains are starting to look ominously closer to the drop than they have been in recent years. 

At this point in the season, you’ll find them sitting on a mere 22 points in fifteenth spot, just three points out the relegation zone currently occupied by Hull City, QPR and Leicester. With only a six point swing separating the basement-dwelling Foxes and twelfth place Everton, things could get really interesting really quickly for the bottom half of the table. 

Arsenal are finding themselves in a more competitive position than a lot of observers have really given them credit for and you’ll find them sitting in fifth spot just a single point behind fourth-placed Manchester United and three points behind upstarts Southampton - who are looking more and more like they will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. 

Arsene Wenger’s men will need to pull off a victory here if they want to sustain their charge towards a Champions League place and with Chelsea and Manchester City facing off on Saturday and United looking more wobbly as the season goes on, this could be a great opportunity to take advantage of any form of slip-up from the leading four sides ahead of them.
