Arsenal vs Bolton Wanderers Betting Tips
Arsenal, now marooned 12 points adrift of Premiership leaders Man Utd, albeit with a game in hand, travel to the Reebok Stadium to take on the feisty Bolton Wanderers on Saturday. And how they must be dreading it. Sam Allardyce's charges have proved to be something of a bogey team for Arsenal in recent years. The Gunners have only managed to beat Bolton in one of their last half-dozen visits to the Reebok in all competitions, and have failed to lower the Trotters' colours in their last four Premiership encounters at the Lancashire venue. On the plus side for Arsene Wenger's men, Bolton have failed to win in their last four Premiership matches during the current campaign, and have been beaten in their own backyard the last twice, by Man Utd and Wigan respectively. Strangely enough, given that they possess a good deal of firepower, Bolton are finding goals hard to come by: they've scored just five in six home league matches - an average of under a goal a game!Last term Bolton played in an uninhibited manner at the Reebok, but were more compact on their travels, often playing for a draw. However, so far this season they have not stamped their authority in matches on home soil in the same way, and often appear to be playing with the objective of not conceding, rather than scoring. This is not an approach they will want to take against an Arsenal side so rich in attacking flair. Arsenal come into this match on the back of a vintage second-half performance in their midweek Champions League game against Hamburg. A goal down and not playing well after 45 minutes had passed, Wenger's words of wisdom worked the oracle as the Gunners came out after the interval and blew the German side away with a thoroughly impressive display, eventually winning 3-1. With Thierry Henry being man-marked to the hilt at the moment, and understandably so, young Dutch striker Robin van Persie has grasped his opportunity to shine with both hands. The former Feyenoord trainee has made giant strides under Wenger's expert guidance and was by far Arsenal's best player against Hamburg on Tuesday. Given his current form, I reckon he's a steal at 15/8 with William Hill in the anytime goalscorer market. Although Arsenal have been struggling to achieve consistency, they could be in for a good run following that confidence-boosting victory. And, despite Bolton so often being a thorn in the Gunners' side, the greater momentum is with the London club and I expect them to collect three points in what will probably be a low-scoring affair.
