ARSENAL vs. BRAGA- NEWS, ODDS AND PREDICTIONS
Arsenal's Champions League season kicks off tonight when playing host to Braga in what is being hailed as a one sided affair in favour of the Gunners.
With that being said, Braga manager Domingos Paciencia maintains his side will set out to attempt making history by upsetting the North London club on his side's Champions League debut.
Before brushing this talk under the carpet, one needs to remember that the largely low-profile Portuguese outfit reached this competition on the back of having humbled much more high profile clubs in the form of Celtic, as well as Seville, to secure their place in Group H.
But then again, the Gunners are not your average campaigner either, boasting having progressed to the knockout stages for the past decade and quarter-finals or better in the past three consecutive years.
Betfair offer the pick of odds if wanting to ride your stake on an Arsenal win at 1.3, with Braga at a lowly 15.
With that said, Paciencia, who guided his team into second place in the Portuguese championship, ahead of Porto- an amazing feat, maintains that his team will not be overawed by the sense of occasion.
On the goalscorer odds side French Moroccan Marouane Chamakh finds himself as favourite to score at 1.91, with Cesc Fabregas next up at 2.25. One must feel that Andrei Arshavin is a safe bet at 2.5, with an enticing 6.5 for him to open the scoring.
For Braga, Brazilian national Paulo Cesar is favoured at 4.5, with Cameroonian Albert Meyong well placed at 5.0- not a bad shout for a man hailed as a large reason for Braga's success last season.
From a results perspective Arsenal will wrap this up. Playing at Emirates, coupled with opportunities up front for newcomers will prove more than enough opportunity for some up and comers wanting to prove their worth.
Braga, while not to be looked down upon are simply out of their league...and will be made to look so by the Gunners.
