ARSENAL VS MANCHESTER UNITED PREMIER LEAGUE BETTING TIPS
At the end of the season you can often look back and pinpoint specific games or incident where titles are won and lost. Arsenal looked to have had theirs after Chelsea came to the Emirates and gave them a lesson in the meaning of smash and grab. However, they have since recovered the situation amicably and are now just a point behind today’s opponents and within striking distance of leaders Chelsea.
Yet you have to feel that if they lose this one their title dreams could be over. Rivalries may not be as fierce as they were in the Roy Keane/Patrick Viera era but there is still a great deal of animosity between the two sides and regardless of the points at stake, neither side will want to lose this one.
Nicklas Bendtner could make his return from injury to boost Arsene Wenger’s striker options, whereas Rio Ferdinand begins his four-match ban for Manchester United and is likely to be replaced by Nemanja Vidic.
The bookmakers have Arsenal installed as the slight favourites and you can back them to win at 2.7 (7/4) with Betfair, Manchester United are a juicy 3.0 (2/1) and the draw is a 3.4 (12/5) shot. Arsenal’s poor record against their title challengers – they have already lost 3-0 to Chelsea and 2-1 at Old Trafford this season – make them impossible to back at that price, but such is Manchester United’s reliance on Wayne Rooney I couldn’t be backing him with great confidence to carry them over the line in such a big game. The draw looks the logical and sensible play in the match odds market.
If you’re looking to see where the goals might come from in this game then I’d suggest looking no further than Cesc Fabregas – 3.8 (14/5) to score anytime – and Rooney – 2.7 (7/4) in the same market. The Spanish midfield dynamo has five goals in his last five league matches whilst England’s star striker has seven in the same time frame. Yet I am finding it difficult to nail my colours to the mast in the Over/Under 2.5 goals market and it seems Betfair punters are too because it is 2.0 (Evens) the pair, maybe it’s worth staying clear of this one.
Sky Sports have taken the step to show this game in 3D at five pubs around England, but it is the points on offer rather than the dimensions in which it is viewed that is of the greatest significance. Don’t forget your specks, you won’t want to miss this one.
