Tonight the clubs lock horns at White Hart Lane, where Arsenal were beaten in the league last season as Harry Redknapp's men showed signs of closing the gap on their derby rivals.
There has been much debate heading into tonight’s clash on whether or not Redknapp, as well as Wenger, would prefer to choose silverware over handing their up and coming youth a chance, however it is highly expected that both managers will be heading out with a youthful squad tonight.
The likes of Brazilian playmaker Sandro is set to be called upon by Arsenal, with the midfielder an £8million summer signing from Internacional.
On the Spurs front, Jake Livermore and, if fit, 18-year-old Steven Caulker are also set to run out at the Lane, while David Bentley and third-choice goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa should be coming out as starters
On the Arsenal end- goal scoring machine Cesc Fabregas is sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Wenger will most likely field under-fire goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski- despite a somewhat tumultuous run for the Gunners thus far.
The probable team line-ups are as follows:
Probable Arsenal starting XI: Fabianski; Hoyte, Djourou, Squillaci, Gibbs; Eboue, Eastmond, Wilshere, Lansbury; Emmanuel-Thomas, Vela.
Probable Tottenham starting XI: Cudicini; Hutton, Bassong, Gallas, Assou-Ekotto; Bentley, Palacios, Sandro, Kranjcar; Keane, Pavlyuchenko.

On the scoreline front, this game is expected to be a low scoring affair with a Spurs win of 1-0 netting 10/1, and an Arsenal win in the same direction at the same. Interestingly, the 2-0 result either way is set at equals at 14/1
Even though Wenger has made a virtue of his policy of giving youngsters and fringe players opportunities in this competition, the fact that the Gunners have not raised the trophy since 1993 might have the Emirates faithful calling for him to reassess the move.
Some interesting statistics to note heading into tonight’s match up is that Spurs also have the better record in this competition, having won it four times and been runners-up on three occasions.
Arsenal have won it twice and lost four other finals.
However, the Gunners boast a good League Cup record against their rivals, having won 5 of the last 11 meetings, against Spurs' 3.
