Arsenal vs Tottenham: Preview, Odds and Betting Tips
- By admin on September 24, 2022 22:42 GMTAnother edition of the North London derby is here and as always, there is much at stake once again. Over the years, this fixture has become one of the most anticipated in a Premier League calendar and the rivalry between both sides has hit another level, especially over the past five years.
The first meeting in the 2022/23 season promises to bring as much drams as we have witnessed over recent seasons for obvious reasons. Arsenal did some good business in the summer and spent over £100m for the second season in succession but who could have predicted they would be top of the league after seven games? Probably no one.
Over to the other half of North London, Tottenham have significantly improved under Antonio Conte and they continue to show more of that in the current campaign. While they are not winning games with ‘flair’, they are doing the all-important job of claiming points.
Alongside Manchester City, Spurs are one of the only two unbeaten sides in the Premier League after seven games and their unbeaten run will be put to the ultimate test at the hands of familiar foes.
Tottenham won the most recent encounter in May by a 3-0 scoreline, a result that ensured they secured a Champions League spot over their rivals although Arsenal won this exact fixture last season by a 3-1 scoreline.
A tough clash is on the cards and we have all the top predictions for you ahead of an interesting battle at Emirates.
All odds are via William Hill and all info valid as at the time of writing.
Odds could differ now.
Form Guide: Arsenal
Arsenal are the early pacesetters in the early season and lead the way at the top of the table heading into the international break. You would have to go to seven seasons ago to find the last time the Gunners found themselves in such a position.
Arsenal were a on a winning-run of five league games before seeing their streak coming to an end at the hands of Manchester United, having suffered a 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford.
Regardless, Mikel Arteta’s men made the perfect response when they dispatched Brentford with ease in a 3-0 scoreline. Goals from William Saliba, Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira ensured that the Gunners returned to winning ways but they now face another litmus test that will determine whether or not their title ambitions are genuine.
Form Guide: Tottenham
Tottenham have equally started the season on an impressive note. Though, they have been held to stalemates against West Ham and Chelsea, they are yet to taste defeat on domestic turf in the current campaign.
Bar their opening game of the season where they put 4 past Southampton, Spurs failed to score more than two goals in a single game but ended that run in style with a 6-2 thrashing of Leicester City last time out.
With that in mind, Antonio Conte and company will travel to the Emirates with much confidence and the hopes of keeping their unbeaten run intact.
How the match could go
Based on the current form of both sides, it would be rather difficult to predict an outright winner though Arsenal are slight favourites because of their overall better form, compared to their rivals.
Goals have always come in good amounts in this fixture though and we can expect more of the same in this edition as well.
Betting Predictions
Both teams to score
Ironically, both teams have only found the net in two out of the last five meetings between both sides but we’re expecting a much different game this time around. Due to the form of both sides, there is a strong chance both teams will get on the scoresheet and it will be a case of who outscores the other. William Hill are offering odds of 6/10 (1.60) for both teams to score at least a goal.
Over 2.5 goals
Five of the last seven encounters between both sides have witnessed over 2.5 goals and goals are expected to flow once again at the Emirates. Arsenal’s goal-scoring form in particular will influence this pick, as the Gunners have scored at least two goals themselves in all their Premier League games bar the 3-1 defeat to Manchester United. William Hill are offering odds of 17/20 (1.66) for both teams to score at least three goals and it’s worth a shout.
Kane to score
Win, lose or anything at all, Harry Kane just loves to score against Arsenal. The England captain bagged a brace in Spurs’ most recent 3-0 win over the Gunners back in May. In fact, Kane's 13 goals in 15 Premier League games against Arsenal means he has scored against the Gunners than against any other side in the competition. You can expect he will be on the scoresheet once again.
