Aston Villa could make massive strides versus Blackburn

The home side have only lost one in their last six matches, as they recorded three successive wins before defeat at Old Trafford and then consecutive draws against Fulham and Blackpool. They are priced with bookmakers at 4/5 to beat Blackburn on Saturday.
Villa drew 1-1 with Blackpool last time out and had a week off as they were not in FA Cup action, so Houllier will be looking for his side to be fresh after such a lay-off.
Blackburn have also had an extended break since their 1-1 draw with Newcastle, which was a game that showed yet again that Steve Kean's side lack a real ruthless streak that can win games.
Defender Carlos Cuellar has been ruled out for a month with a torn hamstring that he sustained during the draw at Bloomfield Road. James Collins was rested for that game so he should be back in place of the Spaniard to face Blackburn.
There is better news regarding long-term absentee Luke Young, who has been plagued by setbacks this season, as he has returned to full training and Houllier expects him to be back in first team contention soon, possibly against Blackburn.
Villa will also be without Fabian Delph, while defender Habib Beye is reported to be close to agreeing on a move to Championship side Ipswich Town.
England man Darren Bent will again lead the line for Aston Villa and he has said this week that everything about his £24 million move to the club has been "positive", and his debut goal in the win over Manchester City was definitely a good way to impress the fans.
"I definitely made the right decision," said the forward.
"It's been great to get amongst the goals too, that's certainly been important. When you join a new club, it's always important as a goalscorer to get off the mark.
Blackburn have not won in their last three games, claiming only one points from a possible nine, and could slide down into a difficult relegation battle unless they turn around their fortunes. They are priced at 21/5 to get all three points in this game.
Phil Jones remains sidelined with a long-term knee problem but French defender Gael Givet could return from a groin injury to face Villa. Kean's loan signing in January, Mauro Formica, could make his debut for Blackburn after he impressed in the reserves in midweek.
Points are at a premium at Villa Park and both sides could really do with all three to give them some valuable breathing space at a vital time of the season.
