ASTON VILLA VS BLACKBURN CARLING CUP 2ND LEG BETTING TIPS
We’ve got a very important clash ahead of us today at 7:45 pm as Aston Villa take on Blackburn Rovers in a Premiership fight to the death. Top UK bookmaker Blue Square has listed the Villains at an 8/11 price to win the match while Blackburn are trading in the neighbourhood of 17/4. The draw pays out at 5/2, but I think that’s not what either team is aiming for, especially Villa.
Villa are massive favourites to qualify to go through to the final, and they’re carrying a price of 1/9 against Rovers lengthy 5/1 odds. Villa are the home side today and if they can put together a big total (2 goals plus) then they would have a decent shot at ending the tie. Blackburn’s main issue is goals and if Villa can get an early one then they could have effectively ended the tie. The bookies are shorn on whether we’ll see plenty of goals with the over/under at 2.5 goals paying 5/6 in each direction. 4 or more goals pays out at 9/4.
I think Blackburn have to avoid conceding early and then they must throw caution to the wind. The tie is only at 1-0 to Villa and if Blackburn get two quick ones it changes the whole dynamics of the equation. A penalty in Blackburn’s favour could be the ultimate blessing, combine that with a goal against the run of play and a park-the-bus mentality and you’ve got a recipe for a Blackburn victory.
Villa remain in the drivers seat though and they get the edge on all the correct score margins. Villa 1-0 pays out at 11/2 while a 1-1 draw is 13/2. Rovers 1-0 is a massive 12/1 while Rovers 2-1 pays out at 16/1. Villa 2-1 garners a 15/2 listing.
Villa are 7/4 to score in both halves (a solid bet) and 11/4 to win both halves. They are 5/1 to score first and fail to win, 8/1 to win having been behind (also a great bet), but their keeper definitely gets the nod with evens to keep a clean sheet. They are 13/8 to win to nil and 9/2 to score a penalty. They are 12/1 to miss a penalty.
Blackburn are 7/1 to score in both halves and a massive 25/1 to win both halves. They are 9/2 to score first and fail to win (not a bad bet at all) and 25/1 to win having been behind. They are 15/4 to keep a clean sheet (avoid this one) and 11/1 to win to nil. They are 12/1 to score a penalty (a solid bet) and 33/1 to miss that penalty.
Gabriel Agbonlahor is the favoured goalscorer and he has a 5/4 anytime price. He is 20/1 to score in both halves. An Agbonlahor hat-trick pays out at 40/1. James Milner is 12/5 to score and 40/1 to score in both halves. David Dunn is 3/1 to score and 18/1 to score with a header. Franco Di Santo is a solid 3/1 to score at any time and I have a feeling its either going to be him for Blackburn or something from a set-piece.
I think Villa take this one, but Blackburn could certainly make a game of it.
