ASTON VILLA VS. BOLTON- NEWS AND BETTING TIPS

Aston Villa take on Bolton this afternoon in what is set to be an attacking game to suit both fans, as well as punters.
Villa have put 13 goals past Bolton in their last three meetings at Villa Park, and will be looking to improve upon this later this afternoon.
However, all in all a victory will do wonders for a side that is desperately seeking stability after suffering a 93rd-minute defeat by Stoke on Monday, as well as the media circus experienced over the past week relating to the poorly-handled appointment of Gerard Houllier as manager.
On the team news front- Houllier will finally begin his Villa reign on Monday, with further drama in the form of caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald now reviewing his options, after being overlooked for the top job.
Bolton, who were on somewhat of an uprise, were emphatically brought down to earth last weekend by an Arsenal team laying down their Premiership intentions- which included the team having a player sent off for the second successive match.
Kevin MacDonald is in a race against time in his decision whether to recall fit-again midfielder Stephen Ireland, but has some relief in that John Carew has recovered from the hamstring injury he picked up on international duty two weeks ago.
Bolton are suffering all round with suspended pair Gary Cahill and Jussi Jaaskelainen unable to challenge this afternoon, with Andy O'Brien and Adam Bogdan filling in the gaps
William Hill put Villa as hot favourites to take this clash at a respectable 1.8, to Bolton's 4.5. A draw will net 3.7- however this seems an unlikely event between two traditional 'result' sides
With this traditionally being somewhat of a difficult game to call the Over/under 2.5 goals odds are split right down the middle at 2.0 even
On the results aspect there are some pretty decent odds available on the Villa end with a 1-0 win set at 7.5, and a 3-0 win at 15. One would think that Bolton do harbour the firepower to break a cleansheet and as such a 3-2 bet at 26.0 is rather attractive
On the Villa frontline Gabriel Agbonlahor is favoured to open the scoring at 5.5, with a 2.2 bet of him to score at anytime probably being the pick of the lot. Ashley Young is at 3.0, with a Heskey substitute goal paying out at 3.0
Bolton are no slouches in front of goal, with leading scorer Johan Elmander favoured at 2.75 to find the back of the net. The ever impressive Kevin Davies is also at the top end of the list at a lucrative 3.75
With Bolton suffering a losing streak to Villa dating back to 2006, they will be keen to get out there today and take the attack to a team still reeling in its Europa league relegation.
A rather interesting statistic to note, if you are a Villa fan, is that if they are to keep a clean sheet today, it will be the first time the club has won their opening three home matches of a top-flight season without conceding a goal in 110 years of football history.
While this would present a great 'feel good story', Bolton are a quality outfit, with this game set to be an entertaining affair.
