ATP CINCINNATI MASTERS BETTING TIPS RODDICK AND DAVYDENKO FEATURE
A slate of attention-worthy second round billings are on the Cincinnati Masters day card today, namely home favourites Andy Roddick and Robby Ginepri as they set to take on Thiemo de Bakker and Nikolay Davydenko, respectively.
American No.1 Andy Roddick recently slipped out of the top ten, marking the first time an American isn’t ranked in the upper echelons of the game since the ranking system was unveiled.
Sadly, Roddick’s drop seems to be blamed on mononucleosis according to a recent diagnosis that was released to the press. Untimely exits at Wimbledon, Atlanta and Washington were highlighted by lethargy and listlessness – something that was rather uncharacteristic of Roddick.
"I'm just glad that we found out something that was causing it," Roddick said to the Associated Press. "It's nice to have a little bit of clarity moving forward. It's not something that's going to affect me, anything super-serious.
Roddick was stunned at Wimbledon by Yen Hsun Lu in the last 16, lost his first match in seven years to compatriot Mardy Fish in Atlanta last month and fell to a struggling Gilles Simon in Washington R16.
Roddick withdrew from the Rogers Cup last week, deciding to rest his US Open preparations entirely on his campaign at the Cincinnati Masters.
Roddick featured in first round action on Monday against Sergiy Stakhovsky and he was made to work hard for the win. Stakhovsky took Roddick to three sets before bowing out to the favoured American 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-1.
Roddick next takes on Thiemo de Bakker, an appealing Dutch prospect that was a top junior before graduating to the big league.
Roddick is offered at a solid 1/4 price at William Hill. De Bakker, is listed at 11/4.
Roddick’s somewhat questionable form aside, De Bakker is a player that has the requisite weapons to beat Roddick, in my humble opinion, but he hasn’t quite figured out how to transition his game to this level yet.
De Bakker is in the positive this season, netting more wins than losses which is an encouraging sign. He has nicked wins off players like Isner, Lopez, Juan Carlos Ferrero and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to name a few. Clearly, he is moving in the right direction. Consistency is where he is found wanting.
Taking on Roddick before a home crowd is going to be a bit intimidating. Beating Roddick isn’t going to be easy, even when he is shrouded in doubt.
Elsewhere, Davydenko and Ginepri are getting set to take to court once the Verdasco vs. Fish clash concludes, which looks to be soon. Live Betting action is poised to start and promises to be an interesting affair.
