AT&T NATIONAL TOURNAMENT BETTING TIPS

After some real drama at the 2009 US Open, we're just starting to gear up for the AT&T National tournament at Congressional Country Club in Maryland. The Blue Course is a challenging one and we're looking forward to seeing some of the world's top golfers competing for this PGA title. Tiger Woods, unsurprisingly, is the slim favourite to take the outright win. Woods carries a price of 15/8 and, while it doesn't scream value right away, still isn't a terrible bet if Tiger has a good first round. Woods is a golfer who tends to start a little slower and then put on a big press on day 3 and 4. If he drops outside the top ten, you'll generally see a price increase on Woods and an in-play bet after a double bogey can be especially profitable if it's timed correctly. The second place favourites are Jim Furyk and Hunter Mahan at 16/1. Paul Casey and Anthony Kim are both listed at 20/1 with Sean O'Hair commanding a 25/1 price. Vijay Singh looks to be back in the running here and his 28/1 alongside Mike Weir is a decently-priced bet for a golfer who is looking to get his form back to where it should be. Weir was in contention at the US Open and if he made fewer mistakes would have been a strong finisher. Other notables include Robert Allenby at 33/1, KJ Choi and Boo Weekley at 50/1 and Chris DiMarco at 150/1. William Hill is offering up each-way betting on this tournament with 1/4 odds available on the top 5 places- that's good value. There is also a top 5 finish market, a top 10 finish market as well as first round leader- that one is totally up for grabs- plenty of value there. A hole in one at anytime in the tournament would pay 5/4, a play-off deciding the winner returns a 12/5 price while a margin of victory market places a 1 shot win at 5/2- the slimmest odds. There is also group betting where you can back the winner of a "mini league" of top players. Group A involves Hunter Mahan and Jim Furyk at 3/1, Paul Casey and Anthony Kim at 7/2 and Sean O'Hair at 4/1. Group B has Vijay Singh and Mike Weird at 3/1, Lucas Glover and Robert Allenby at 7/2 and Nick Watney at 4/1.
