Australia vs South Africa 3rd ODI Betting Tips
If you've got a taste for the hard-ball game, then your eyes will definitely be peeled to the TV or the computer screen for the much-anticipated ODI clash between Ricky Ponting's Australia and Johan Botha's Proteas side.
South Africa are technically the form side going into this one and I expect this one to sway in favour of the Saffers. The Aussies are really going out of their way to embody the term "transition period" and you really don't know what you're getting from them going into their games and therefore I'm going to have to back the value and the value is on South Africa.
888sport, a top site for online cricket wagering, has a number of markets open for the upcoming match. Outright betting has the Aussies sitting at 8/15 with the Saffers at a juicy-looking 6/4.
Another interesting market is the Most Sixes category with Australia backed at 5/6 (which is enticing) and South Africa listed at 6/4. The tie is 5/1 and it may be worth a punt as I don't see much need for sixes unless one of the team's have a significant amount of runs to make up in the final five overs.
Highest Opening Partnership is also looking fairly inviting both ways with the Aussies backed at 4/6 and South Africa listed at 11/10. With Ricky Ponting being on the receiving end of more ducks than he should be over the past few months, I'm going to side with South Africa on this one and jump all over that 11/10.
If you're looking at the Top Runscorer Wagering (which is generally the most lucrative market) then you're likely looking at Shaun Marsh, Ponting, Michael Hussey or David Warner for the Aussies. Personally, I like the Hussey double with Michael Hussey (4/1) and David Hussey (13/2). I think Australia will lose their opening partnership pretty quickly so I'm reluctant to back the short-odds Marsh and Ponting.
In terms of the Proteas, I'm liking Hashim Amla at 4/1 and AB de Villiers (9/2). I can see De Villiers putting in an epic middle-order stand and if the Saffers are to secure victory here, I think it will revolve heavily around Amla and de Villiers.
