This is all true of the wagering markets as well in both the men and women’s division of the Aussie Open. We have another slate of exciting fixtures set to unfold today and, now that we’ve seen some of the bigger names crash out of the tournament, it’s going to be a great opportunity for punters.
Yesterday’s action saw the likes of Rafael Nadal and Eugenie Bouchard exit the tournament to Thomas Berdych and Maria Sharapova, respectively. Both were victims of making too many unforced errors early in their matches and they were simply unable to recover when facing off against the quality their opponents were able to muster up when it mattered most.
Roger Federer was eliminated a few days ago and he had actually been trading as the second favourite to win the Men’s Division. This has opened things up for some of the other competitors and you can bank on them taking full advantage with the only real massive forces left in the tournament being Andy Murray and betting choice Novak Djokovic.
In match-play awe have Stan Warinka and Kei Nishikori facing off with Nishokori getting the edge from the bookmakers with an 8/11 price tag in the match betting. Wawrinka is not too far back and he’s trading at a competitive 11/10 for the outright victory as well. The bookmakers favour four total sets in this one and they’ve priced at at around an 11/8 listing.
