BANGLADESH VS ENGLAND 1ST TEST ODDS SHOW GRAEME SWANN AS THE KEY
The English have been dominating Bangladesh since the start of the tour, a feat even more impressive for a side shorn of captain Andrew Strauss and former Test Match Talisman Andrew Flintoff. Top UK bookmaker William Hill is strongly favouring the English to win the 1st test and have priced them at a 4/11 listing to take the victory. A drawn test would pay out at 7/2 while a Bangladesh upset pays out at a very lengthy 8/1. If England bat first, I expect Bangladesh’s odds to rise significantly, unless England endure some type of spectacular collapse.
There are a number of interesting betting markets available here and you can make a good profit if you can predict which individual players are set for big performances. In the ODI series, I did really well backing Eoin Morgan and I think the key players for England will likely be Pietersen, Trott and Swann. Injuries have thrown the England pace attack for a bit of a loop, but I don’t think that affects their chances much as the surface is expected to favour spin.
Kevin Pietersen’s weakness for left-arm spin will certainly be put to the test in this fixture, but he has been resurgent lately and looks to have put his patchy form from the past year behind him. Batting first is of primary importance and I think that Pietersen would be at his best on a flat pitch- something he’ll likely get in the 1st innings.
Kevin Pietersen is actually favoured by William Hill to get at least century in the 1st innings. He’s trading at 7/2 at the moment to knock 100+ while he is 6/1 for 10-19, 20-29, 40-49 or 90-99. Check out the full assortment of odds at William Hill.
Bangladesh’s favoured batsmen is Tamim Iqbal at 7/2 to get the highest score for his side. Imrul Kayes and Shakib Al Hasan trade at 5/1 with Junaid Siddique at 11/2. Aftab Ahmed is listed at 6/1.
For England it looks like a dead-heat between KP and Alastair Cook, who are both available at 7/2. Jonathan Trott is listed at 4/1 with Paul Collingwood well-priced at 9/2. Ian Bell is at 5/1 and, on his day, he can produce some solid results. Michael Carberry trades at the same price. Matt Prior is at 12/1 while Stuart Broad trades at 25/1.
England’s spinner Graeme Swann is favoured to be named Man of the Match with a 7/1 price ahead of KP and Alastair Cook at 8/1 and 10/1, respectively. Bangladesh’s best odds are for Shakib Al Hasan at 12/1.
Graeme Swann is the favoured bowler for England and is 5/2 to be named top away team bowler. Stuart Broad is at 7/2 with James tredwell and Tim Bresnan at 4/1.
Bowler and Batsmen match betting on Bangladesh vs England are available and live betting will be offered for all five days of the test.
