BARCELONA SOLID FAVOURITES TO WIN 2010/11 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
We've already got the odds out for the 2010/11 Champions League and, if the bookmakers are correct, it looks like a real horse race is developing between the two top Spanish clubs.
Popular bookmaker Bet365 has listed Barcelona as the 4.5 favourites to win next year's edition of the Champions League. Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid side are available at 5.5 and I can see why these two teams are being imbued with so much confidence thanks to all their recent signings and the signings still expected to come.
Josep Guardiola's side were embarrassed by their loss to Inter Milan last season and I think that Jose Mourinho is excited to troll the Catalan Club, his former employers, all season long.
Mourinho's former club Chelsea are considered the clear third favourites in the running for the 2010/11 Champions League and you'll find them at a 6.5 price tag. Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United side are a lengthy 8.5 here and they look to be entering something of a rebuilding phase this year.
They will really need players to step up in a big way this season but I am willing to stick my neck out there and say that Dimitar Berbatov will defy the critics this season and the addition of Javier Hernandez could prove to be the signing of the season.
Inter Milan are priced at 13.0 to win back-to-back Champions League titles and Arsenal are 17.0 to grab that elusive trophy. Bayern Munich is available at a 19.0 price and could be good value for another lengthy Champions League campaign. AC Milan are trading at 21.0 and Roma can be backed at the same price, the listings then take a big jump as Marseille's odds are priced at 41.0, alongside Lyon and Sevilla.
Tottenham's odds to win the 2010/11 Champions League are currently trading at 51.0 and that price will drop significantly if they can get out of the group stage- something I fancy them to do unless they wind up with an impossible draw. Schalke 04 are also priced at a 51.0 margin.
Valencia, Shakhtar Donetsk, Benfica, Werder Brememn and Ajax are all priced at a 67.0 margin. Sampdoria are the only side trading at 81.0.
