BARCELONA VS INTER MILAN 2ND LEG 2010 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEMI FINAL BETTING TIPS
With the first leg in Milan laying down a real gauntlet for Josep Guardiola’s FC Barcelona side, the Catalan Club are considered the favourites to win the return leg- but Inter Milan remain in pole position to qualify for the next round.
Lionel Messi & Co. look to have it all to do in terms of the two-legged fixture and they will need to win by more than 2 goals if they are to have any chance of progressing to the final. Barcelona do have the away goal, but should Milan be able to score (and I am very confident that they will score), then Barca are in all types of trouble.
Paddy Power have a very interesting money-back special on this fixture. If any team is leading at half-time and then go on to lose the match, Paddy will be refunding all losing correct score bets, 1st/last goalscorer and correct score singles. You can’t beat a bet like that- especially one where both sides are capable of hitting the net a few times. I predict a low-scoring first half with Barca feeling the pressure as the match goes on.
What it really comes down to is whether Milan can shackle Messi again without opening up opportunities for other players. This is my theory why they won the previous match so emphatically- that and hitting Barca on the break effectively.
Barcelona’s odds to win are trading at a slim 2/5 while Inter are a massive 6/1 to win at the Nou Camp. The draw trades at a 15/4 margin and that’s a decent bet. In regards of outright qualification, Barca are at 5/4 with Inter the odds-on favourites at a 4/7 price tag. The away goal really does give Barca a fighting chance but they will need a master class against one of the best tacticians in football- Mr. Jose Mourinho.
There are a lot of permutations in the correct score market that dictate how things will shape up. If Barcelona take a 2-0 victory here at the Nou Camp they will be through to the next round on away goals. Unfortunately for them, I don’t think their defence is good enough to contain all the match-winners on the Inter side. Barcelona 2-1 would not be enough for the hosts and they’re at 13/2 to do so. 3-0 would get the job done and they’re at 9/1. 3-1 Barcelona would see us go to extra time and that’s a fairly plausible result and that’s priced at 15/2.
The 1-1 draw is priced at 17/2 while a 2-2 draw pays out at 14/1. Inter 2-1 pays 18/1 while Inter 3-2 pays a massive 45/1.
Again, this one really comes down to whether Inter can maintain their defensive solidity and keep Barcelona on the backfoot. Jose Mourinho will deploy a defence-first strategy but this works for Inter as the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Diego Milito and Wesley Sneijder will all be looking to poach a goal against the run of play. A single goal from Inter could be a crippling blow to Barcelona and I just don’t think they have the defence to cope with this one. Barca effectively need to score 4 or 5 goals to get the win here.
