BARCELONA VS INTER MILAN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FULL BETTING PREVIEW AND EXCLUSIVE TIPS
Here we go, we’re just over an hour away from kick-off in the Barcelona vs Inter Milan Champions League fixture so get set for what is arguably going to be the biggest match of the year up to this point. Another classic European encounter, and you really have to like the match-up between one of the most high-flying offenses that world football has ever seen facing off against one of the most ruthless and crafty tacticians to have ever graced the sport.
The battle between Josep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho is definitely going to be one for the ages and Mourinho has been fanning the flames all week via the media. He claimed that he is the one to stop Barca and their “obsession” with winning the 2010 Champions League at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium- home of their rivals Real Madrid.
If you’ve read any of the other articles we’ve put together on this massive match, you’ll know that the current betting landscape for this fixture has Barcelona as heavy favourites to win the 2nd leg- priced by top UK bookmaker William Hill at a slim 4/11 margin. However, most bookmakers have Barcelona at around 5/4 or even as high as 6/4 to go through to the final that they have been craving for so long.
Inter Milan are priced at 13/2 to win tonights fixture, but look like the odds-on favourites to progress to the final. The draw for this match is priced at 4/1, but that won’t be enough for Barca so I can see both teams pushing forward well into second-half injury time.
Lionel Messi is, of course, the big favourite to score and you really can’t make any illusions about it- if Messi has a stand-out game then Barcelona have a great chance at winning this one. If Messi is anonymous again, then Barcelona need other players to step-up and we’re not really sure whether the other players will be able to trouble Inter that much. Barcelona have match-winners all over the pitch, but can they match up against the tactics that Inter will deploy.
I’ve pin-pointed Samuel Eto’o as the biggest threat from Inter Milan and hopefully he gets the start here. You know he’s going to flourish on this stage as he certainly knows a thing or two about scoring at the Nou Camp.
I think that if Inter nullify Messi’s threat and keep the central midfield quiet then Barcelona just don’t have enough answers. Jose Mourinho is in pole position here and he will send his players out with instructions to keep it tight- but push for an early goal. If Inter score first, Barca will need to produce one of the finest displays in European football in order to progress to the final.
I’m backing Barcelona to win this match, Inter Milan to score in the match and Inter to progress to the final.
