Bayern Munich Favoured For Champions League Repeat Part 1
- By Allan Pederson on July 3, 2013 18:45 GMTWhile it still seems like we haven’t even really gotten too deep into summer, the truth is that Champions League qualifying fixtures start again in a mere two weeks time when Celtic faces off against Cliftonville. It’s going to be another long tournament, but plenty is expected of the upcoming Champions League with a number of top sides either bringing in new managers or wheeling and dealing with some of their star players.

There are also a couple of the so-called second tier sides making big plays by splashing out lots of money on top superstars. Sides like Monaco and PSG in particular look to be on spending sprees.
At the end of the day, most of the sides that are guaranteed spots in the competition look to be the usual suspects with only a few of the top Euro sides still needing to play their way in.
As it currently stands, punters will find Bayern Munich (last year’s winners) as the betting favourite to win the 2013/14 Champions League. Bayern trade at a 3/1 price right now and that is likely a point lower because of the incoming Pep Guardiola, who takes over as manager of the German side after a one-year sabbatical in the United States.
The former Barcelona man will find his old side breathing down his neck for Champions League favourtism as the Catalan club can be backed at a 4/1 listing. After the Confederations Cup, when the Spanish side looked distinctly tired and a bit uncreative, one does have to wonder just how well the talismanic Spanish teams will actually perform in this year’s Champions League.
