The Jose Mourinho factor is in full effect with Chelsea priced as the fourth favourites, but their odds take a significant jump as there is clearly a preferred three options amongst the bookmakers. Chelsea can be backed at an 11/1 listing and look fairly good value for that bet. Manchester City are trading at 11/1 and you would absolutely have to take Chelsea if you had to choose between the sides.
Manchester United, now headed up by former Everton manager David Moyes, are also sitting at the same 11/1 price as the other significant English sides. It’s going to be a very make or break year for Moyes and you do have to wonder whether he’s going to really have a go at the Champions League or whether he’s going to focus on retaining the Premier League title. He will be under pressure in the Champions League as he doesn’t have nearly the European experience that many of the other top managers do, unless you count the Europa League.
Paris Saint-Germain are an interesting outside option at 16/1 and they still look to be trying to do some big deals this summer and a few more key signings could see them trade down to the 12/1 margin or so. Juventus are also in the mix with some very good players and a tempting 18/1 price tag.
Other notable sides include Borussia Dortmund at 20/1 and Arsenal at 25/1 - should they prove successful in signing Wayne Rooney their price will likely drop a bit. AC Milan can be backed at 33/1 with both Athletico Madrid and Napoli available at 50/1 odds.
Celtic remain the longest shot on the board at a 500/1 price.
