BAYERN MUNICH vs. ROMA- LAST MINUTE PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS
In what many are considering to be the clash of the evening, last season's Champions League runners-up Bayern Munich take on Serie A runner-up Roma in what is shaping up to be an exciting affair.
Bayern run out with some notable absences in the form of injured Arjen Robben, as well as suspended Franck Ribéry. Ribéry will be replaced on the flank by Hamit Alt?ntop, Pranji? or Müller .
On the Roma team news front Rodrigo Taddei has been ruled out with a strained thigh muscle, along with three players struck down on international duty – Mirko Vu?ini? (back), Philippe Mexès (calf) and John Arne Riise (concussion).
With that said, coach Claudio Ranieri will be boosted by the return of striker Adriano to the squad. Francesco Totti has also been included in tonight’s squad despite looking doubtful at one point.
Ranieri will know that garnering maximum points at the Allianz Arena will be far from easy considering the German harbour the better squad, but even a point will be hugely encouraging considering Roma will challenge Basel and Cluj in the coming two games.
Last year's finalists Bayern are clear favourites with Betfair offering a win at 1.66, to Roma's 6.2.
With the attacking prowess evident within both team line-ups, bookies across the board are expecting there to be at least 3 goals scored, with under 2.5 goals netting odds at 2.18, to 1.83 on the other end.
William Hill are hedging their bets on a Bayern win with a 1-0, as well as 2-1 win shwoing at odds of 8.0, and a massive 12.0 registered for an unlikely 3-0 win.
A 1-0 result in favour of Roma will see odds of 15.0, while a 2-2 draw will see 17.0
Ivica Olic is favoured to open tonight scoring at 5.0, while the ever impressive Miroslav Klose is favoured to score at some point for the German's at 2.2
If the crowd are to be shouting the infamous 'Toooottttiiiii' from the stands, he will need to find the net at a favourable 3.0
One would consider both Munich and Roma to be the favourites to advance out of the group into the Round of 16, with the winner of this clash having the advantage of being well on their way past the Group Stages.
After a solid campaign in last year’s Champions League, Bayern should win this on the back of Champions League experience alone, with home advantage making up the difference.
