It had been reported that David Beckham was defying Real Madrid by travelling to Rome to attend the wedding of his good friend Tom Cruise to Katie Holmes. In his absence, Real wracked up an impressive win over Santander, and rather unsurprisingly considering how often he has started Beckham on the bench, Fabio Capello said "Beckham was in Rome with the permission of the club" before muttering "and he can bloody well stay there if he wants"!
