Bell backed for top scorer

There looks to be oodles of value on England's top runscorer list when the hosts take on India in the first of seven one-day matches at the Rose Bowl on Tuesday. The reason is that England's two best one-day players, Kevin Pietersen and Paul Collingwood, look out of sorts with the willow. And when the top two in the betting for such a market are not looking at their best, it pays to oppose them. Pietersen was in terrible touch judging by the pictures from Lord' in the Friends Provident Trophy final between Durham and Hampshire. KP appeared to be uncomfortable in the blue and gold of his team Hampshire and his balance was all over the place - a sure sign of a guy not seeing it right -0 when trapped in front by Ottis Gibson. Collingwood was similarly scratchy and couldn't time the ball at all, failing to score at more than a run a ball when Durham were looking to accelerate. It means that Ian Bell is the man to get with. Coming in at three there is plenty of time for Bell to show his worth. He has a good record for England in this version of the game and has been in good form for England in the Tests recently. Openers Alastair Cook and Matt Prior will have their supporters but look too short given their respective failures to consistently post decent totals. The returning Andrew Flintoff might be a touch of value. It would be typical of Freddie to return with a bang and he has fond memories of the venue with a ton there against Sri Lanka in the 2004 Champions Trophy. For India, Sourav Ganguly outscored his team-mates on India's last appearance in Southampton. His 90 proved enough against Kenya. Verdict: Ian Bell England's top runscorer @ 7/1 (SportingBet) SportingOdds are offering all new customers £100 worth of free bets. Click here and open an account today.
