Berbatov to top charts again?

Dimitar Berbatov is a value 5/4 with Ladbrokes to finish next season as Tottenham's top Premiership goalscorer. The Bulgarian forward has become the darling of White Hart Lane after rattling off 12 league goals and a total of 30 in all competitions in his first season in England. His silky skills and eye for goal have also won over a number of leading clubs with Manchester United chief among his potential suitors but the 26-year-old has decided to stay loyal to Spurs for at least another season - and if last season was spent acclimatising to the Premiership then, injuries aside, he can surely only improve on last year's tally. Tottenham have boosted their strike-force this summer with the record £16.5m signing of Darren Bent, who is also priced at 5/4 by the Magic Sign to finish as Tottenham's top Premiership goalscorer. However, when you consider that the outright price about Bent to finish the Premiership's leading goalscorer is 25/1, while Berbatov's is 8/1 then 5/4 for the former Bayer Leverkusen to become Hotspur's hottest hotshot represents excellent value. "We fully expect to see Berbatov and Bent leading the way in the scoring charts," said Ladbrokes spokesman, Nick Weinberg. "But if Spurs go on a lengthy cup campaign every striker will get the chance to boost their goals tally." Bent's arrival will ramp up the pressure for a starting place up front among Spurs' strikers with captain Robbie Keane, Jermain Defoe and Mido all likely to spend more time on the bench next term. Indeed, Defoe has been linked with a move away from north London. The England striker is 7/2 to start the new season at Manchester City, 9/2 to join Aston Villa in the close season, 8/1 to sign for Portsmouth and 14/1 to rejoin West Ham. Weinberg added: "Bent's arrival pushes Defoe a bit further down the pecking order. The new signing has moved in order to solidify his place within the England squad. But his arrival could be a body blow for Defoe's club and international ambitions." Spurs are 66/1 to win the Premiership, 3/1 to finish in the top four and 4/7 to end up in the top six. Ladbrokes Specials: Who'll finish as Premiership top scorer for Spurs next season? Berbatov 5/4, Bent 5/4, Keane 7/1, Defoe 7/1. Where will Defoe be for start of the season? Tottenham 2/1, Man City 7/2, Aston Villa 9/2, Portsmouth 8/1, Man Utd 8/1, Liverpool 8/1, Newcastle 8/1, West Ham 14/1.
