BIG BUCK'S 2009 CHELTENHAM GOLD CUP BETTING TIPS
Another top-quality French horse coming out of the Paul Nicholls system, Big Buck's is one of my prime candidates to have a serious go at the 2009 Cheltenham Gold Cup. Currently listed in the neighbourhood of 33/1, I firmly believe that Big Bucks represents some of the best value going into the Cheltenham Festival. Boasting an overall record of seven wins out of 22 starts, along with two 2nd's and three 3rd place finishes, this 6 year-old is one of the few horses at this point in the season who have already won two races in 2009. Big Bucks took the winner of the Unicoin Homes Handicap Hurdle on New Year's day at Cheltenham and the Byrne Group Cleeve Hurdle which was also at Cheltenham. The previous win had come at Aintree on April 4th when Big Buck's won the John Smith's Mildmay Novices Chase. BIG BUCK'S BETTING TIPSBig Buck's has demonstrated two major things over the course of his racing career. The first one is the ability to win after making several mistakes, as witnessed during the April 4 victory at Aintree. The other is the ability to just nudge in during the final portion of the race and take the win from a horse that had previously led through most of the race. This is what happened in both of Big Buck's victories this year. The big issue for me is whether Big Buck's can be in a competitive space going into the final ¼ of the Cheltenham Gold Cup course. Having forged a competitive partnership with top Jock Ruby Walsh, Big Buck's will be racing with another jockey as Ruby Walsh is expected to pilot Kauto Star during the Gold Cup.
