Birmingham vs Liverpool Betting Tips

Birmingham haven't beat Liverpool in an FA Cup tie since the 1930/31 season, but have proved something of a bogey team for the Reds in the Premiership in recent seasons. From the 2002/2003 campaign until now inclusive, theses sides have faced each other eight times in the Premiership, with the Blues winning three, two going the way of Liverpool, and three - including both matches this season - finishing all square.Obviously, Birmingham's plight in the league is for all to see - they are currently joint second-last in the table - and, on current form, Rafa Benitez's charges should eat them for breakfast. However, despite coming into this match on the back of a 3-1 beating of Newcastle, I am not convinced that this game will be anywhere near as straight forward as the bookies are anticipating - Pool are a top-priced 8/11 to beat their hosts on Tuesday evening.Despite home advantage, Birmingham can be backed at a best-priced 9/2, but I reckon the safest bet is to opt for two goals in the total goals market, about which Stan James are offering a tasty 5/2.Sympathisers of statistics will nod in agreement since Birmingham score and concede on average one goal in their home matches against Premiership sides, which is the mirror image of Liverpool's for and against ration on rival soil against top-flight opposition. This could well end as a 1-1 draw, about which you can get 6/1. However, the total goals bet looks a far safer option given that, if Birmingham don't put their best foot forward, Liverpool might well stick a couple of goals past Maik Taylor, in which case we're still in with a fighting chance of collecting some much-needed wedge.
