BIRMINGHAM VS LIVERPOOL- TIGHT OODS, BUT A REDS WIN NONETHELESS
Birmingham take on the Reds this afternoon in a match that will see Liverpool desperate to jump start their season and once again try and challenge for the long sought after Premiership title.
On the injury front Birmingham's new signing Aleksandr Hleb misses out after picking up a leg injury during the week, with Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt nursing a shoulder injury.
For the Blues- Jean Beausejour and Martin Jiranek, are set to play their first game for the Blues, with the Reds hopefuls Paul Konchesky and Raul Meireles are expected to make their debuts.
Despite their less than impressive start to the season Hodgson's Liverpool outfit are still favourites with Betfair putting them at a tantalising 2.44, with the Blue-despite their decent start to the season at 3.4
The bookies put this game at the low scoring end with less than 2.5 goals scores in the game at 1.67, and 2.46 on the other side.
On the scoring front, Liverpool fans will be ecstatic at the sight of Fernando Torres up front with him set at 5 to open the scoring, as well as at 2.0 to score at any stage...money in the bank. Steven Gerrard comes in at 2.87. One must feel that with Liverpool now at the point where anything less than a win will do that their attacking flair will see loads of ball pushed to these two...and loads of goals result
On the Blues front Cameron Jerome is seen as the likely saviour to open the scoring at 8.0, and 3.0 during the game at any point. One to watch is current Blues leading goalscorer Craig Gardener who is at a nice return of 6.0 to score.
As per usual the goal scoring predictions is where the real fun is had with a 0-2 Liverpool win set at an enticing 13, with a 1-2 win at 11.5! A 1-0 home win for the Blues will see a 9.8 to the punter
One could assume that this game will be played at a fast pace. Behind the scenes Hodgson has already begun swinging the axe and getting rid of any dead wood that he felt unnecessary. This is a man who has proven that he knows how to win, and the frustration of not having excelled so far will soon level out.
Liverpool are too good a club to settle for mid-table and this game should show just that
Prediction: Liverpool with an easy win...and with the goals to flow
