Blackburn Sack Ince - Sam Allardyce Favourite To Be Rovers's Next Permanent Manager
Paul Ince has finally bid goodbye as the manager of the Blackburn Rovers. Though it already seemed that Ince was living on borrowed time at the Eastwood park club, but the decision was expected to be taken after the next game on Saturday against Stoke City. However, the board of Rovers met on Monday and decided to take this decision immediately and decided upon having a new manager by the weekend. It is with great sadness the board announce that Paul Ince is to leave the club," said a statement on Blackburn's official website. "After a board meeting yesterday (Monday) it was decided to relieve Paul of his duties. "The board, having selected Paul back in June, were desperate for him to succeed and wanted to give him as much time as possible in the unforgiving environment of Premier League management, where time is such a precious commodity." "We are currently in danger of becoming detached from the pack," Blackburn Chairman John Williams said on the club's Web site. "The survival of the club in the Premier League is paramount and our focus now is on finding a replacement who will be able to maintain our top division status." The former Manchester United midfielder, Paul Ince, thus became the sixth manager to loose his job in the English Premier League this season. He was with the Blackburn Rovers for just six months. The Rovers have won just three of 17 premier league games in this season and are currently sitting in second place from the bottom leaving them hot for relegation from the prestigious English premier league. Ince had became one of the most sought after coach after he led MK Dons to the League Two championship during the 2007-08 season. Subsequently, he was signed up by Blackburn Rovers in place of Mark Hughes and got the distinction of being the first Black English manager in the English Premier League. He could not show the same magic at Blackburn and this saw the Lancashire side, which was 7th in the previous premiership season slide to bottom of the league table this year. Paul Ince was reported to have asked the board six more games to prove himself around two weeks back. However, two straight losses and especially the last one at the hands of Wigan by 3-0 woke up the Blackburn Rover board to the grave situation at hand and they decided to tackle it as soon as possible. Blackburn Chairman John Williams has already mentioned their intention to find a replacement for Paul Ince and their focus on retaining their top division status. Williams said: "Appointing a new manager is our total focus." "We acknowledge that timelines are tight for we are in a very worrying situation concerning our Premier League status." "We will endeavor to have a new manager in place for Saturday's game with Stoke City at Ewood Park, but there are no guarantees and we must ensure that we get the right man." "In the meantime, the day-to-day training will be carried out by Archie Knox, Ray Mathias and Karl Robinson. Our coaching staff and all of the players fully understand the importance of this weekend's game." "Our supporters can rest assured that we will do everything in our power to get the team climbing the Premier League table as soon as possible." Many Uk bookmakers immediately came out with betting market on the next permanent Blackburn Rovers manager's post. Initially they had former Rovers boss Graeme Sounes as the favourite when the betting opened, but he is now been taken over by Sam Allardyce as the bookmakers favourite at 5/4 with Paddy Power after huge money came in support of Big Sam to be the next manager of the Rovers. This is attributed to the fact that Blackburn had already been in touch with Allardyce during the summer for the post before they decided on Paul Ince. Combined with that the statement that they are looking for a new manager to be in charge by this Saturday has fueled rumors that Allardyce is the one being talked about. Roy Keane, who left Sunderland, just recently is another name being tossed around. He started at 25/1 in the morning but now is as low as 4/1 at Paddy Power.Alan Kurbishly is next in the list and is being tipped at 12/1 currently at Paddy Power, which is up from 9/1 in the morning.Blackburn Specials Next Permanent Manager Betting Odds at Paddy Power:Sam Allardyce 5/4Graeme Souness 7/2Roy Keane 4/1Alan Curbishley 12/1Owen Coyle 16/1Dave Jones 20/1Gerard Houllier 20/1Roberto Mancini 20/1Alan Shearer 22/1Avram Grant 22/1Tugay Kerimoglu 22/1Glenn Hoddle 25/1Steve McClaren 25/1Martin Jol 25/1Michael Laudrup 28/1Didier Deschamp 28/1Slaven Bilic 28/1Louis van Gaal 28/1Kenny Dalglish 28/1 Bernd Schuster 28/1 For the complete list of probables and their odds, visit Paddy Power.
