BLACKPOOL, WEST HAM, WEST BROM AND WIGAN SET FOR RELEGATION BATTLE
If the current betting odds are to be believed, then we're going to see a four-way battle between Blackpool, West Brom, Wigan and West Ham to decide who remains in the English Premier League. The likelihood of any other club being drawn into the relegation mire is quite low and there isn't really a huge amount between the potential relegation candidates, barring Blackpool.
As it currently stands, Blackpool are heavy favourites to go down to the Championship and they're priced at 3/10 for the drop. West Brom are the only other side listed at an odds-on price to be relegated and you can back them to go down at a 10/11 price tag.
Wigan and West Ham are the other two main contenders and it would be a real disaster for the management at Upton Park if they were forced to spend another season in the Championship. Wigan are preferred for the drop over West Ham but the margin isn't very big- 11/10 against the Hammers 6/4.
I personally think that any of these teams could potentially survive the relegation dogfight (even Blackpool) and a lot of it is going to come down to injuries, luck, refereeing decisions and the concession of late goals that turn wins into draws or draws into losses.
Wolves, Newcastle or Stoke are all priced at 4/1 for the drop and they are all some distance off the relegation mire. Bolton Wanderers are priced at 6/1 for relegation while Sunderland are paying out at 7/1. Fulham have climbed to 15/2 while Birmingham trade at 9/1 for the drop with Blackburn at a 10/1 price.
If you don't feel ghoulish enough to back sides for relegation, try backing your preferred team to stay up. Should Blackpool remain in the Premier League- you've got a 12/5 price. West Brom to remain pays out at 4/5 with Wigan at 4/6 and West Ham at 1/2. Stoke, Newcastle and Wolves to remain in the Premier League are priced at 1/7.
