BMW International Golf Championship
This article relates to the 2005 BMW International Golf tournament in Munich. We recommend VCBet and BlueSquare for our Golf betting - they are currently quoting prices for the 2006 BMW International.Off to Germany this week on the European Tour, for the BMW International from the Munchen Nord-Eichenried Course, just outside Munich. The course itself is very flat and to be brutal it doesn't have too much up its sleeve really. The key hole on the course is the relatively easy Par 5 18th which is well reachable in two and will have a significant bearing on the last dayThere is a good field assembled here this week as the prize money is always pretty decent and there's always the chance of landing a new BMW if you get a Hole in One. The profile of past winners tends to centre around players of proven ability. Jimenez won it last year, followed by Westwood, then Bjorn, then Daly, then Bjorn again. There is an interesting appearance from Luke Donald who has been playing steady golf on the US Tour circuit. At 10/1 he's the tournament favourite with Stan James and you have to like his chances. He does play that much in Europe these days so it could be significant that he's playing in this. Thomas Bjorn and Padraig Harrington are joint second favourites at 12's but both are finding it hard to win lately. Bjorn's record here is very good though and both are worth a wager. Defending Champion Jimenez is priced at 20's and will probably be around the leaders on the final day. An interesting pick could be Paul Casey at 33's. He has finished in the Top Ten here in all four of the times he's played in this event and this could be his turn to shine. He needs a victory as well just to get him back on track. Big John Daly makes a welcome appearance having won here in 2001 with what would have been a record breaking score of 27 under par had it not been for the use of preferred lies. Anyway it shows what the man is capable of on the course and he's playing reasonably well at the moment. He's a 25/1 shot. The money this week has been for Casey and significantly for Bernhard Langer at 33's. He's been playing well of late and will get a lot of help from the crowd. His knowledge of the course is also second to none. Angel Cabrera (16's), Bradley Dredge (33's), Richard Sterne (66's) and David Lynn (40's) have all been touted by the tipsters this week, but we have a hunch that Niclas Fasth will go well this week. At 40/1 he seems good value having won recently. Sky Sports will be covering the event live and we'll be betting in running throughout. There are a host of markets including Top Ten finish, Top GB & Ire Player, Top European Player, Top Rest of the World Player and many more.
